You can launch applications from the Dock or the Applications folder but there’s a faster way.

Press the Command Key and Space at the same time.

Spotlight Search appears

Type the name of an application

Use the up or down arrow to select it if it isn’t the first result and press return to launch the application.

Spotlight indexes al kinds of content on your machine including applications, files, mail, notes and contacts.

For example, you can search for a contact in Spotlight Search, press return and get quick access to information without having to go into the Contacts application. You can even initiate a message, mail, voice call or FaceTime call right from the Spotlight Search.

Try experimenting with Spotlight Search as a faster way to launch applications or find documents on your Mac.
